In his widely-acclaimed book, Winners Take All: The Elite Charade of Changing the World, Anand Giridharadas critiques many aspects of modern philanthropy. In particular, he argues that many philanthropists seek to maintain their privilege and support the status quo instead of taking on the hard work of fighting systemic injustice and structural inequality. This plenary session will engage some of the key critiques in Winners Take All, featuring a moderated conversation between Giridharadas and Jeff Raikes, co-founder of the Raikes Foundation and former Microsoft executive.
